Instead of flying several hundred miles during each holiday season or frantically trying to beat traffic and congestion a staycation makes things a lot simpler far more economic and also helps in bringing families together. And if you have a yard deck and pool like the in Mexico then the holiday at home seems magical as well! Designed by Augusto Quijano Arquitectos the refined contemporary residence was crafted for a couple whose kids no longer lived at home.
On the inside it is cement blocks that set the ambiance with some painted in bright red and others left exposed. A gorgeous and striking kitchen island in red and an equally dramatic staircase in bright yellow bring even more color indoors.
The great hall becomes the heart of the house with a neutral color scheme using gray and white creating a polished and inviting ambiance. Art work adds pops of color to each space with widen partitions and cabinets ushering in textural contrast.
It is the living room that offers unabated views of the coastal strip while the master bedroom overlooks the beautiful lineup of pine trees on the other side. Then there is the dining area kitchen and terrace section that opens up towards dreamy sunsets and the distant countryside allowing the homeowners to take in the many sights and sounds outside.
The entrance from the street leads to the first floor that contains the public spaces with the kitchen and dining at the heart of it all. This also ensures that it is the living area and sitting room on the peripheral that get the best views on offer while the ground floor holds the bedrooms and other private zones.
Décor is kept intentionally understated with the focus firmly on the inviting yard just outside. Calming charming and contemporary – this Mexican residence offers a great template for anyone planning to create a home that can host a lovely staycation!
A unique feature of the house is its distinctive pitched roof and polygon façade that were largely determined by the slope of the site local building norms and a desire of the homeowners to combine privacy with unabated views.
